MokDah: SERENE ENVIRONMENT NEVER FAIL TO ATTRACT

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh.

Choosing the right place for a quiet family holiday or to run away from the hustle bustle of city life is not an easy thing. There are so many considerations to take into account, first is the place, whether it fits into the family preferences - will you and your family get to enjoy the holiday, what about the accommodation and the facilities, than the costs, as well the safety of your family.

To Mokdah coming from Kampung Bharu, Kuala Lumpur who never had a real "kampung" (village) to go back to, would always consider for a venue that provide a quiet and serene environment close to going back to basic like a village.

Would you consider nature and going back to basic? A quiet kampung atmosphere, staying in wooden house, shaded by lots of trees around with padi fields, hills, orchards, lake, stream or river.

Recently Mokdah and my siblings, nephew, nieces and grand nephew had the opportunity to stay for 2 days and one night at the Keriang Hill Resort, 10 km from Alor Setar Kedah. It is really an experience for city dwellers like us to experience the stay at this unique and interesting resort. Thank You to Alnajwa Productions for sponsoring our family retreat.

Keriang Hill Resort is at the foor of Gunung Keriang, near Kedah Paddy Muzium. Gunung Keriang is a 230 million year old lump of mainly
limestone rock which is said to be in the shape of
and elephant and reaches a height of 218 meters.

The younger generations love to cycle around

While we are at the resort, how do we fill our time? There are lots of things for you to do like cycling around the resort, the younger generations would like to go for a swim in the swimming pool, hill climbing or brisk walking. For me I choose sipping coffee at the Putri Restaurant the coffee house by the lake, watching the black swan and catching up with my reading.

If you are brave enough you can befriend with the monkeys or perhaps feed them with bread or banana, they love them and always waiting at the nearby trees.

Though the resort provide village atmosphere wooden house, lots of green and fresh air, it also provide modern facilities in the chalet that city dwellers would appreciate. Each house is equip with queen size bed for family members, air conditions, well design bathroom with hot water, TV with good programs and a seating area with
comfortable settee in the house and some chairs at
the balcony.

This resort is a conducive area should one want to organise a family or company retreat, events such as wedding reception. The resort provide the facilities to accommodate such requirements with many open space and also a marque tent.

Outside the resort you can visit the scenic paddy field with the Keriang Hill as the back ground, Kedah Paddy Museum, and Complex Tun Dr Mahathir's birth house where he grew up at Lorong Kilang Ais, Jalan Pegawai, Alor Setar.

Then the meals, you can have your meals at the coffee house or arrange a special barbeque. As a variety we can go out to places like Kuala Perlis to taste the seafood, or if you like laksa you can try the Zakaria Laksa Teluk Kucai. For lunch and dinner you may choose any of the food outlet and restaurants in Alor Setar (about 45 minutes drive) to your liking. Among the top ten restaurants are The Asiatic Thai Cuisine. One of it's signature dish is the deep fried fish serve with miang kham.

At night we can spend time with the family to sit around the Dataran Menara Alor Setar while the children can play around the area. For those who like shopping they can go across the Dataran to the Aman Central Mall, with lots of shops and food outlet. #mokdahtravellog
